Three affordable IWC Replica watches and their stories

In this article we will introduce you to three affordable IWC Replica watches that are ideal as your first luxury watch or as an extension to your own collection. Each of the models comes from a different series of the brand and represents what is special about watches from IWC. The models are among the absolute IWC classics.

As one of the most important luxury brands, IWC is known for impeccable design and the high technical standards of its in-house factories. There are six popular regular collections and a limited edition series from IWC. The regular IWC collections include Portugieser, Portofino, Da Vinci, Ingenieur, Aquatimer and the pilot watches. The watches in the Jubilee series, on the other hand, are limited and were released for special occasions.

1. IWC Mark XVIII

The first watch in our article is the latest from the famous collection of IWC pilot watches: the IWC Mark XVIII. The history of these watches goes back to 1936. “The special watch for pilots” was the first watch that could withstand the extreme conditions of flights. It had a black dial with contrasting luminous hands and large hour markers. To this day, these features have remained unchanged in the legendary IWC pilot watches.

The Mark XVIII also features this famous dial design: large indices and luminous hands. Since the Mark XII, the watches have also been equipped with a date display. The XVIII has a 40mm case and is powered by the automatic IWC caliber 35111 with a 42-hour power reserve.

The latest Mark XVIII is available in various color configurations. The classic version comes with a black dial and clearly contrasting white hour and minute indices and a black strap. There is also a version with a white dial on a black or beige textile strap. Prices for the IWC Mark XVIII are just over EUR 4,500 — a relatively low price for a legendary piece of watchmaking art.

2. IWC Aquatimer Automatic

The next watch on our list is the IWC Aquatimer Automatic. It has been part of the IWC catalog since its introduction in 1967. It was already apparent back then that the Aquatimer would open a new successful chapter for the Schaffhausen-based brand. But the way there wasn’t easy. In 1970 the Aquatimer was redesigned. But success was a long time coming. The main reason for this was the increasing popularity of Japanese quartz watches, which all Swiss manufacturers were struggling with at the time.

In 1998 the watch was relaunched, the IWC Aquatimer GST Automatic 2000 was introduced. It was the beginning of the Aquatimer series as we know it today. The latest model in the collection is the IWC Aquatimer Automatic from 2014. It is the most reduced of all Aquatimers. It comes with a date display and an internal and external SafeDive bezel system for timing dives. The dial is contemporary and functional, the large hour markers are perfect for diving. The watch is powered by the automatic IWC caliber 30120, which offers a 42-hour power reserve.

The standard version of the Aquatimer Automatic has a black rubber strap and a choice of black or white dial. Both variants cost just over EUR 5,300.

3. IWC Portofino Automatic

IWC Replica

The last cheap IWC watch in our article is the IWC Portofino Automatic. The Portofino collection was first introduced in 1984. The design is inspired by the IWC Lépine pocket watches from the 1970s. The name “Portofino” refers to the elegant lifestyle of the Italian fishing village of the same name. The Portofino collection does not have as extensive a history as the Mark XVIII and the Aquatimer Automatic. Nevertheless, it is one of the most successful IWC series and is equally popular with women and men.

The release of the IWC Portofino in 1984 was something of a return of the brand to its history. Recognizable by the round and functional cases with the look of traditional pocket watches. In the following two decades, IWC developed a series of Portofino watches that had a very classic design, but had technically very advanced movements ticking inside. Which brings us to the current Portofino collection from 2011. It still impresses with the same elegant and minimalist design that many love.
