TAG Heuer – precise, sporty, innovative
In 1860, Edouard Heuer founded the watch company that is now known as Tag Heuer Replica. His first chronographs were soon presented at the World Exhibition in Paris. The company’s success story could no longer be stopped. In 1985, the company was merged with the TAG Group and renamed TAG Heuer.
The brand has always been characterized by reliability, courage and creativity. Specializing in precision and the measurement of extremely short periods of time, TAG Heuer was quickly able to establish itself in the field of sport. The brand was the official timekeeper at the Olympic Games as early as 1920. From 1992 to 2003, all timekeeping devices for Formula 1 were provided by the brand. From 2004 to the present, TAG Heuer has been responsible for timekeeping for the American IndyCar racing series. Closely rooted in the field of sports, TAG Heuer has launched many sports watches over the past 150 years, including legendary models such as the Carrera, the Monaco and the Aquaracer.
The search for perfection
Driven by the irrepressible desire to create something new, something never seen before, TAG Heuer can look back on a whole series of significant watch innovations. A patented stopwatch mechanism was developed under the brand as early as 1882. This was followed in 1887 by the invention of an oscillating drive, which is still used by well-known watch brands today. Shortly afterwards, the first on-board chronograph for vehicles was invented.
The Carrera – a watch inspired by racing
The Carrera is the undisputed bestseller from TAG Heuer. It has been on the market since 1963 and is a tribute to the Mexican car race La Carrera Panamericana. Visually, the Carrera is characterized by a simple and practical design. The dial is large and easy to read. The case is robust, durable and waterproof, so it can withstand even the greatest stresses. As a sports watch, the Carrera impresses with its highest precision. Carreras are also known for their extremely long service life.
At the time, it was the world’s first chronograph with a waterproof, square-shaped case. Just one year after its launch, the Monaco became a legend. The foundation stone for this was laid by actor and motorsport star Steve McQueen, who wore the chronograph on his arm in the car racing film Le Mans. The Monaco has retained its characteristic square-shaped case to this day. The current collection includes numerous different men’s and women’s models of the watch.
Aquaracer – the watch for water sports
With the Aquaracer, TAG Heuer has launched an indispensable sports watch. It was launched during the 34th America’s Cup, one of the most important sailing races in the world. It is precise, reliable and can withstand even the most extreme sailing conditions. Like all TAG Heuer watch models, the Aquaracer is also available in many special versions.
