Barely a few months after unveiling a steel and white dial version of its iconic Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, Omega Replica has just announced the arrival of two new versions perfectly mixing steel and Mooshine gold as well as a Sedna gold steel version .
While the Omega Speedmaster is known for being a robust watch entirely in steel that traveled to the Moon, two versions combining subtlety and elegance are appearing in the permanent catalog of the Swiss house.
Please note, this is not the first time that Omega has produced a Speedmaster in yellow gold or rose gold. Recently the brand unveiled a Speedmaster Chronoscope in Moonshine Gold for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. On the other hand, it is indeed the big return of the Speedmaster Bicolore or Biton, whatever you want to call it. The very first Speedmaster reference mixing steel and gold was introduced under the reference 145.0022 in 1983. This vintage version in steel and 14-carat gold featured a 42mm diameter case with a Hesalite glass.
The Omega Speedmaster Bicolor of 2024
This new Omega Speedmaster Two-tone steel and gold retains all the DNA of the Speedmaster collection. Nothing to declare in terms of change. We find a 42mm diameter case with beautiful “lyre” horns, all topped with a domed sapphire crystal. The tachymeter bezel is made of ceramic and uses “Céragold” technology for exceptional rendering.
These two new versions are therefore equipped with a steel and gold bracelet, a gold crown, gold pushers and a gold bezel rim, just that.
The dial also remains similar to the Speedmaster collection with indexes applied in Moonshine or Sedna gold depending on the reference, SuperLuminova as well as 3 sub-counters including a small seconds at 9 o’clock, a 12 o’clock totalizer at 6 o’clock and finally a 30-minute counter at 3H.
The Mooshine Gold version reference 310.20.42.50.02.001 has Moonshine gold subdials. Personally I find that it is the most successful, it offers a very retro look that I like without being too bling-bling. As a reminder, Mooshine Gold is an 18-carat yellow gold alloy specific to Omega in which we find approximately 14% silver, 1% palladium, 9% copper and 75% gold.
The second version in Sedna Gold, the Speedmaster reference 310.20.42.50.99.001, features a dial entirely in Sedna Gold, Omega’s pink gold which is composed of 75% gold, more than 20% copper and 1 % palladium. The indexes, hands and the house logo are also in gold as on the other reference. On the other hand, the sub-dials are black.
Movement-wise, both watches are equipped with Omega’s “in house” caliber 3861. This hand-wound movement features a Co-Axial escapement and is chronometer certified by COSC as well as Master Chronometer certified by METAS. This movement offers 50 hours of power reserve and precision ranging from 0 to +5 seconds per day.
Both watches are equipped with a bracelet with a micro-adjustable folding clasp. It’s always the little detail that makes the difference and comfort on the wrist.
These new two-tone Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatches are available now in Omega boutiques and authorized retailers. Price level you need to count on €20,100 including tax to afford the extra touch of elegance that gold brings to the Speedmaster.
