In his 34 years at Vacheron Constantin Replica, Christian Selmoni has seen his fair share of watchmaking trends. The latest? Green dials. Oris can boast of having started this trend last year with its Kermit the Frog ProPilot, before being imitated by Tag Heuer, Zenith and Cartier in 2024. Now it’s Vacheron Constantin’s turn, which has just released a brand new collection of its sporty-chic Overseas model with green dials.
“The tone we chose is very subtle, very delicate. It was about sticking to the elegance and refinement of the collection,” explains Christian Selmoni. We’re talking about a rich olive green, similar to those expensive Italian Nocellara Belice olives that you only find in delicatessens. What sets Vacheron’s green dials apart is their level of detail, with a sunburst satin finish in the middle, a velvet finish around the edge, and rose gold hour markers and hands to ensure each watch is legible.
The Overseas has always been known for its variety of materials, but for 2024, Vacheron Constantin has stuck to a single precious metal. “We decided to focus on rose gold, which is very popular with our customers,” says Christian Selmoni, adding that versions in steel and titanium could also be available.
This green and gold collection includes a 42.5mm chronograph, a 41mm dual time zone, and dates in 35mm (with a diamond-encrusted bezel) and 41mm. True to the form of sports watches, each piece features an open sapphire crystal caseback, and is water-resistant to 150 meters thanks to a screw-down crown. The fact that there are three ways to wear each model reinforces the versatility of the collection, and our favorite.
In addition to the matching strap with quick-release folding clasp, the lucky owner can opt for the slightly less blinged-out green calfskin strap. But our favorite is the green rubber strap with pin buckle: its look is so sporty that we can easily imagine it being worn by a Premier League footballer in the coming months.
